Vinyl flooring installation depends on the product type. Luxury vinyl plank and tile typically use a click-lock floating system that requires no nails, staples, or adhesive. Sheet vinyl is glued or loose-laid by professionals, and Vinyl Composition Tile is glued tile by tile.
Subfloor preparation is critical for a flawless finished floor. The subfloor must be clean, dry, structurally sound, and flat to within 3/16 inch over a 10-foot span. Vinyl can be installed directly over most existing hard surfaces including concrete, ceramic tile, and existing vinyl, but carpet must always be removed first.
Click-lock luxury vinyl plank is allowed to acclimate in the room for 24 to 48 hours before installation so the planks adjust to the home's temperature and humidity. Expansion gaps are maintained around the perimeter and at transitions to allow for natural movement after installation.
Glue-down vinyl installation provides the most stable, permanent result and is preferred in large commercial spaces and rooms with heavy rolling loads. Sheet vinyl installation requires careful seam placement and a perfectly smooth subfloor since any imperfection can telegraph through the surface. Our experienced installers handle every step from subfloor prep to final transitions.
